# Location Mismatch

> Answers to explain why the detected location of the proxy does not match the location displayed on the dashboard.

There are many ways to query the location of an IP address. A common approach involves retrieving information from IP data providers, such as [IPinfo](https://ipinfo.io), [IP2Location](https://ip2location.com), and [MaxMind](https://www.maxmind.com). Each of these services maintains its own database to determine the geolocation information of IP addresses, which can lead to varying results for the same IP address.

  If you find that the detected location of the proxy does not match the location you purchased in your dashboard, there is a probable reason:

  * We get the geolocation information directly from our <Tooltip tip="Internet Service Provider">ISP</Tooltip>. The results detected from other websites may vary.

  If you find that the detected location of the proxy does not match the settings you configured in your username, there are two probable reasons:

  * We use [MaxMind](https://www.maxmind.com) to identify geolocation information for our rotating proxies. The results detected from other websites may vary.

  * The IP data providers consistently update their databases to ensure accuracy. The IP location displayed on our dashboard may experience slight delays.
